The Junkman Cometh

I suddenly find myself inspired. As a matter of fact, my dear cousin inspired me this very day. His wit, compassion, and kindness gave me another reason to smile. Now if I can just figure out what to do with my renewed enthusiasm and vitality, I might make this world a better place.  And by the world I mean my world. I don’t believe I could change the whole world. That would be silly. Just making my little corner a happier place than it was yesterday would be task enough, even with tons of motivation and the best of intentions. Such is my mission, if I choose to accept it.

There’s just one small issue with that plan.

We’re moving to Boise in sixteen days, people!

I can’t work on my little corner or my world or anybody’s world right now.  My brain is officially in freak mode. I’m organizing and packing in my sleep, but not getting much done when I’m awake. I’m making mental lists and written lists; I’m forgetting the stuff on the mental list and losing my patience.  I probably don’t smell very good either.  Don’t ask..

But, somehow, I still remember to eat. There’s not much chance of my forgetting food.  Sadly.

Yes, I’m a nervous wreck. We have lived in the same apartment for almost twelve years, and it is jam-packed full of stuff. Too much stuff. Did I say stuff?  Because I meant STUFF!

So, I’m sure you’re asking, “How do you intend to get everything done in time?”  You might also be asking why this post is called “The Junkman Cometh”.  Am I right?

I can answer both those questions at the same time, using a complex mathematical equation:

PROBLEM:

SHITLOAD OF STUFF = TIME + FRUSTRATION + SWEAT + MOVING RAGE, POSSIBLE JAIL TIME

SOLUTION:

TAKE A DEEP BREATH + HAVE A NICE GLASS OF MERLOT + CALL THE JUNKMAN =

MY PRECIOUS SANITY!

Long story even longer, the Junkman is coming, also resulting in the first blog post I’ve written in many moons.

And now I am back!

No applause needed. The warmth of your gratitude is quite enough. Thank you.

Seriously, things are pretty weird at my house, but we will survive.  We are getting rid of a lot of stuff  (See complex mathematical equation above).  Our goal is to go minimalist, but I’ll believe it when I (don’t) see it.  Get it?  I crack myself us sometimes.

My takeaway from all this madness?  Hopefully, plenty of fodder for future blog posts!

Inspiration comes in many forms:  A child’s laughter, a beloved cousin going through the fight of his life, or the junkman removing the excess stuff in a person’s life.  The important thing is what one does with that inspiration! Make it happen and make it count.

Thanks for stopping by!!!
